KING OF THE RING

Card #661

The GWF constantly pushed the envelope in coming up with new and more inovative events. An annual event was the Wrestling Classic, in which the top 16 wrestlers competed in a one-night tournament.

Commissioner Carter expanded on that idea and came up with the King of the Ring. This was a 32-man, Double Elimination Tournament. But that wasn't all the stipulations for this monumental event. Every singles champion would be entered, and every match he had would be for the belt. The title could change hands any number of times as the tournament moved on.

Another change from the norm was that every round's matches would be randomly determined, instead of following the set brackets.

When the KOTR began, Chaos owned the heavyweight title, Morpheus the I-P gold, and Janus the TV championship.
